No electricity price hike on October 1, the 2025 price list still applies

From October 1, 2026, households keep paying under the price list in effect since October 1, 2025. A 3.7–4.7% increase is being discussed for the coming months, but there is no decision.

By mid-September, EPS had not filed a request with the Energy Agency (AERS), experts told 021.rs, and new prices require at least 30 days' notice. On September 29, 2026, AERS reported that the cost of heating with electricity is “unchanged compared to the previous year.”

Energy prices without fees and VAT, higher / lower tariff:

  • green zone (up to 350 kWh): 9.6136 / 2.4034 RSD/kWh
  • blue zone (351–1,200 kWh): 14.4203 / 3.6051 RSD/kWh
  • red zone (over 1,200 kWh): 28.8407 / 7.2102 RSD/kWh

Under the IMF agreement, the adjustment must be at least inflation plus one percentage point, so analysts mention 3.7–4.7% and possibly lower zone thresholds. Zone reform options are still unpublished.

What it means for you: home charging can easily push a household from the green zone into the blue one. In every zone the lower tariff costs a quarter of the higher one, so overnight charging stays the cheapest. By Evolako's calculation, a night-rate kWh in the blue zone costs about 6 RSD with all fees and VAT, so a timer set to the lower tariff saves far more than the discussed increase would add.

Over 900,000 smart meters installed, hourly usage portal due by end of 2026

Elektrodistribucija Srbije has installed more than 900,000 smart meters, one in four meters on the grid. By the end of 2026 it plans to launch a portal where you can see your electricity use by the hour.

The figures were given to RTS on September 23, 2026, by Saša Marčeta of Elektrodistribucija Srbije. Serbia has about 3.9 million meters, and one million smart meters are expected by the end of the year.

  • The portal is being tested and should go live by the end of 2026.
  • After registering, a user with a smart meter can see monthly, daily and hourly readings.
  • A tender for another 400,000 meters is planned for 2027, backed by 80 million euros from the European Investment Bank.
  • By the end of 2027, about 1.5 million smart meters should be on the grid.

What it means for you: if the charger in your garage runs through your own meter, the hourly view shows how much energy the car took and at what time. That lets you check whether charging really happens during the lower tariff and how much it adds to your monthly consumption. If the charger is connected to the building's shared meter, the portal shows that meter's consumption, so your share still needs a separate meter for the charger.
